Mayfield Alpacas Lively In Summer

Mayfield Valley home over 100 alpacas on 45 acres in Sheffield.

Mayfield Alpacas has become the centre of United Kingdom Alpaca industry. It is located at Fulwood Lane, and not more than 15 minutes car distance from The Forge accommodation in Sheffield.

Actually, most of the alpacas are from Peru, at South America. Alpacas might look like small camels, but it is closely related to the Llama, like lamoids.

According to Andrew, they are 24 different color and mix-color alpacas in Mayfield.

Alpacas not only in white colour, but they own other colours like grey, brown, and mix-two colours. Aren’t they looking cute?

Mayfield manage to arrange 6-8 alpacas on one acre of pasture, so that alpacas softly padded feet are extremely easy on pasture. Anyway, alpacas are strictly grazers and nibble on grasses, plus, some small plants on pasture.

The Mayfield Alpacas’ Manager, Andrew Jonas said, “… we have to take care of them(alpacas), besides of feed them… have to shave them every year to make sure they don’t get too hot…”

To keep alpacas look good and healthy, it is a tough job to take care of them.

Furthermore, Andrew also mentioned that Mayfield Alpacas is developing from a local farm to commercial farm that primary for alpacas and stud services. At the same time, they open to public and recollecting more different animals.

Visitors might confuse with Llamas and Alpacas. Below is the Llama.

Known as ” Cao Ni Ma” in chinese.

Visitors are not only able to see small camels, but they could see other domestic animals too. These animals are goats, chickens, ducks, turkeys, sheeps, and many more. It is quite excited and interesting for visitors to hang around inside the glossy and green field.

Alpacas are very rare to see in Asia countries, therefore, Asian international students are quite happy to see alpacas in Sheffield. Johnson is a student that came from Malaysia lately.
